Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions I hear most often. If yours is not listed, call (828) 222-0401 or reach out online.

Insurance and Payment

I am currently an out-of-network provider. I can provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Many PPO plans cover a portion of out-of-network therapy. I recommend calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.

Session rates depend on the type and length of session. I offer a sliding scale for clients who need it, because cost should not be the reason someone does not get help. We can discuss rates during your free 15-minute consultation.

I ask for at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and no-shows may be subject to a fee. Life happens, and I understand — just let me know as early as you can.

Sessions and Logistics

Yes. I offer telehealth sessions for clients located in North Carolina. Virtual sessions use a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. Many clients find telehealth just as effective as in-person sessions, and it removes the barrier of commuting.

Individual sessions are typically 50 minutes. As for how many sessions you will need, that varies. Some people come for a few months to work through a specific issue. Others find ongoing therapy helpful for longer periods. We check in regularly on your progress and adjust as needed.

I work with individuals of all ages. Whether you are a young adult navigating identity and independence, or someone later in life dealing with a transition, my approach adapts to where you are.

Getting Started

That is completely okay — everyone starts somewhere. The free phone consultation is a low-pressure way to ask questions and get a feel for whether this is the right fit. During your first session, we will talk about what brought you in, what you are hoping to get out of therapy, and I will explain how I work. There is no pressure to share more than you are comfortable with.

It means your sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression are welcomed and respected — not treated as something to fix or overcome. An affirming therapist understands the unique stressors that LGBTQIA+ individuals face and creates a space where you can be fully yourself without needing to educate your therapist on the basics.
